Asante Kotoko will look to steady their Ghana Premier League campaign when they travel north to face Karela United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium on Sunday.
The Porcupine Warriors arrive under growing pressure after dropping points at home again, a frustrating run that has slowed their momentum in the race for the top four.
Kotoko’s most recent outing ended in a stubborn draw against Vision FC, leaving interim coach Prince Yaw Owusu searching for answers as supporters demand a response.
“We just have to go out there and do our job,” Owusu insisted after the last match, a statement that now hangs heavily over Sunday’s crucial encounter.
Kotoko currently sit fourth on the league table, having recorded 10 wins, nine draws and five defeats from 24 matches while scoring 30 goals and conceding just 15.
But the task in Tamale will be far from straightforward.
Karela United arrive with confidence surging through their camp. The Pride and Passion side are unbeaten in their last four matches, a run powered by impressive defensive organisation.
In fact, Karela have kept four consecutive clean sheets, a remarkable streak that has lifted them to seventh place with 35 points and firmly in the hunt for a strong finish.
History between the two sides suggests another tight battle.
Since October 2023, Kotoko and Karela have met six times, producing fiercely contested encounters. Kotoko have won three, Karela have claimed two, while one match ended in a draw.
Their last meeting in November 2025 delivered fireworks, with Kotoko running out 4–2 winners.
Now, with the top-four race heating up and both teams chasing momentum, Sunday’s showdown in Tamale promises intensity, pressure and a fight where neither side can afford to blink.
