Ghana had to grind out a narrow 1-0 victory against Comoros on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium to book a spot at the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Mohammed Kudus’ goal was the difference in the end. Kickoffghana.com takes a closer look at how each player fared.
Benjamin Asare – 7
Asare kept his fifth cleansheet in his seventh game as Ghana’s number one. He was on a virtual holiday with little to nothing to do. There was a bit of a nervy moment in the beginning when he misjudged the flight of a cross but Comoros failed to make it count.
Mohammed Salisu – 7
Calm and composed, the Monaco defender formed a solid partnership with Djiku and Adjetey.
Alexander Djiku – 7
Yet again, a rock-like performance from Djiku, who thwarted all of Comoros’ attempts.
Jonas Adjetey – 7
A first start for the Basel center back since Ghana’s win over Mali was a fairly comfortable one for the defender who made good forward passes from the back.
Ebenezer Annan – 7
Annan was a bit flat in attacking situations for the Black Stars but managed to fight his way and settle into the game
Alidu Seidu – 7
Unlike his usual solid self, Alidu Seidu was uncharacteristically sloppy and lackadaisical, giving the ball away too often and making poor decisions. Seidu looked off the pace of the game and was hooked in the second half.
Thomas Partey – 8
The heartbeat of the team, Partey controlled the tempo of the game with fluid passing and movement.
Kwasi Sibo – 7
An early yellow card meant Sibo walked on a tight rope all game, limiting his presence in midfield and his ability to go in for 50/50 tackles.
Antoine Semenyo – 7
Semenyo was likely in flashes of the game, blew hot and cold, but drove Ghana upfield with some good runs with the ball.
Mohammed Kudus – 8
A big occasion needed an equally big player. Kudus turned up and scored the all-important goal to get Ghana to the 2026 World Cup.
Jordan Ayew- 7
Led from the front, held up play well and brought the other players around him into the game.
Joseph Paintsil – 7
Looked lively through the game. Despite his cameo, Paintsil looked like a player with a lot of minutes in him.
Caleb Yirenkyi – 7
Eager to impress in his customary midfield role, Yirenkyi picked up a Yellow card but looked sharp and bright on the half turn.
Kojo Peprah – 7
Peprah replaced Seidu and tried to assert himself in the game.
Christopher Bonsu Baah – N/A
Brandon Thomas-Asante – N/A-
