Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams reveals Ghana’s upcoming friendly against Mexico will serve as an opportunity to test new players.
These players might not get playing time in FIFA-ranked friendlies, but Adams sees value in giving them exposure.
Ghana’s friendly against Mexico is expected to take place in May.
“We want to use the Mexico game to try some players that will not have the opportunity to play in the competitive friendlies that Fifa use to rank teams,” he said in his interaction with the parliamentary select committee for Sports.
The match is part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by the US, Canada, and Mexico. Coach Otto Addo will likely use this chance to assess fresh talent and experiment with team dynamics.
Ghana has friendlies against Austria and Germany lined up, but the Mexico game offers a unique chance to try out new faces.
