Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has revealed that the Black Stars are considering playing a fifth friendly game while in the USA ahead of the 2026 World Cup, but no decision has been made yet.
The team has already confirmed friendlies against Austria and Germany in March, and Mexico in May, as part of their preparations for the tournament.
The Black Stars will face Panama, England, and Croatia in Group L of the World Cup, and coach Otto Addo is looking to fine-tune the team’s tactics and build momentum ahead of the tournament.
“If things work out well, while in the USA, we [the Black Stars] will want to play a fifth friendly game ahead of the 2026 World Cup. But we are still working on that we haven’t reached any decision yet,” Kofi Adams told the parliamentary select committee for Sports.
Ghana’s participation in the World Cup is a significant milestone, and the government is committed to supporting the team in making a strong impression.
