Salis Abdul Samed is back in the mix for Ghana’s Black Stars ahead of the 2025 Unity Cup in London, after recovering from a muscle injury that sidelined him for the past eight international matches.
The midfielder last featured for Ghana during the June 2023 assignments against Mali and the Central African Republic, but struggled with fitness for much of the season that followed.
At club level, Salis made 11 appearances across all competitions for Sunderland, playing a key role in the club’s historic Premier League promotion, which was sealed with a 2-1 playoff win over Sheffield United.
With 19 caps under his belt for the national team, the 24-year-old brings much-needed balance and defensive grit to Otto Addo’s midfield plans as the Black Stars gear up for the four-nation tournament in England.
Ghana will face Nigeria at the GTech Community Stadium in their opener on Wednesday, May 28 for a spot to the final against Jamaica or Trinidad and Tobago.
