Highly-rated 19-year-old midfielder Aziz Issah has received his first senior national team call-up to Ghana’s Black Stars squad for the 2025 Unity Cup – weeks after featuring for Ghana at the U20 AFCON.
Issah joins fellow debutants Aaron Essel, Caleb Yirenkyi and Joseph Tetteh Anang in Otto Addo’s squad.
Despite struggling for game time with Barça Atlètic, Issah’s impressive performances at the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations caught Addo’s attention.
The teenager showcased his creativity and composure in midfield, earning widespread praise.
His standout performances at the U-20 tournament have earned him a spot in the senior team, giving him a chance to shine on the international stage.
Ghana will face Nigeria in the Unity Cup semifinals on May 28, with the winner advancing to the final on May 31.
The tournament is part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
