Asante Kotoko forward Kwame Opoku scored the winning goal in the President’s Cup match against Hearts of Oak, securing a 2-1 comeback victory for his team.
Opoku paid tribute to the late Liverpool attacker Diogo Jota, whose untimely passing has sent shockwaves through the football world.
The match was a thrilling encounter, with Hearts of Oak initially taking the lead through Hamza Issah’s goal after Kotoko goalkeeper Mohamed Camara’s error.
However, Kotoko equalized when Peter Amidu Acquah’s cross was headed into his own net by Hearts defender Konadu Yiadom.
Opoku then scored the decisive goal in the 53rd minute, exploiting defensive lapses to seal the win for Kotoko.
This victory marks Kotoko’s ninth President’s Cup title, cementing their status as the most successful club in the competition’s history.
