Nora Hauptle, former coach of Ghana’s Black Queens, secured her first win with Zambia’s Copper Queens at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), beating Senegal 3-2.
Despite conceding an early goal, Zambia rallied to equalize through Barbra Banda’s strike in the 12th minute.
The score was 1-1 at halftime.In the second half, Rachel Kundananji and Barbra Banda scored again, with Kundananji netting in the 51st minute and Banda adding another in the 74th.
Senegal’s Nguenar Ndiaye scored a penalty, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.
The win marks Hauptle’s first victory with the Copper Queens, who are looking to advance to the knockout stage.
Hauptle’s team will now focus on their final Group A match against DR Congo.
