Ghana’s Black Queens coach, Kim Lars Bjorkegren, is upbeat about his team’s progress ahead of their 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) opener against South Africa.
Despite a mixed record since taking over in January, Bjorkegren believes the team has improved significantly over the past month.
“We’ve seen growth both on and off the pitch, and I think we’re physically and tactically better prepared than we were a month ago. I’m confident the players feel the same way,” he said.
The Black Queens face South Africa today, followed by matches against Mali and Tanzania.
Ghana, making a return to WAFCON since 2018, aims to win its first title after being runners-up three times previously.
