Black Queens midfielder Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah has set a high standard for the team’s success in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, eyeing the ultimate trophy.
Chantelle while speaking to Joy Sports, stated that the campaign will only be deemed successful if Ghana emerge as champions.
After securing a spot in the quarterfinals with a 4-1 win over Tanzania, Boye-Hlorkah believes the team deserves respect on the continent. “When we take the trophy,” she emphasized. “I think we deserve it. I think we deserve the respect from African football.”
Boye-Hlorkah added, “I want to give this continent so much respect, but I also want to gain it. The only way you gain it is by performing, by showing who we are. So a successful tournament for me is taking home the only thing that you can take home [the trophy].”
The Black Queens will face Algeria in the quarterfinals on July 19, with kickoff scheduled for 17:00 GMT.
