Ghana’s Black Queens drew 1-1 with Mali in their 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations match.
Alice Kusi scored early, but Mali’s Aissata Traore equalized in the 52nd minute.
“We played a really good game. We had chances to win it. We are a bit sad, but we need to win the next game,” said Coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren.
The draw puts Ghana third in Group C with one point. Mali tops the group with four points. Ghana’s next match against Tanzania is crucial, and they need a win to stay in contention for the knockout stage.
“We need to win the next game,” Coach Bjorkegren emphasized, highlighting the importance of their upcoming match.
Ghana dominated possession but couldn’t hold on to their lead. A win against Tanzania would give them a chance to qualify for the quarterfinals, depending on other results. The Black Queens are determined to make it happen.
