Head coach of Nigeria’s home-based national team, Daniel Ogunmodede, has expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance against Ghana’s Black Galaxies on Sunday.
Nigeria held Ghana to a goalless draw in the first leg of the CHAN qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Speaking to the media after the game, Ogunmodede admitted his team was fortunate not to concede away from home.
“Before we came here, we knew what we were coming to face in a team like Ghana considering the rivalry between the two countries,” he said at the post match.
“We knew how tough it would be whenever we meet on the stage so we expected a very tough battle. We are lucky and satisfied with the result we came out with.
The second leg takes place on December 28 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
The winner will qualify for the 2025 CHAN tournament, which is set to be hosted jointly by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
