Ampem Darkoa Ladies midfielder Comfort Owusu says their comeback win against defending champions AS FAR Rabat was very difficult.
She revealed that their head coach Joe Nana Adarkwa’s half time pep talk motivated them to go all out for the win against the Moroccan giants.
The Ghana champions came from a goal down to beat AS FAR Rabat 2-1 at the Stade Laurent Pokou in Ivory Coast in the Group B opener.
Ampem Darkoa faced an early setback as AS FAR’s Najat Badri scored the opening goal. However, the standout performance from Comfort Yeboah, who was awarded the Woman of the Match, proved crucial.
In the second half, Yeboah scored a well-executed strike, leveling the score. Her influence extended further when her cross into AS FAR’s box resulted in an own goal, giving Ampem Darkoa the lead.
Reflecting on the challenging match, Yeboah expressed her satisfaction at her team’s ability to persevere and secure the victory.
“It wasn’t an easy game, very difficult, but we fought and we were able to win the game. The coach spoke to us and assured us we can do it, and it really helped us,” she said after the game.
