2023 Africa Cup of Nations: We are proud to finish top of Group F – Morocco’s Amrabat

Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat expressed pride as Morocco secured the top spot in their group after defeating Zambia in the last-round game of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023.

Amrabat, who played a crucial role in the victory, was awarded the TotalEnergies Man of the Match.

In a post-match statement, Amrabat revealed that finishing as group leaders was a priority for the team, and he is proud that they achieved this goal.

He acknowledged the difficulty of the match against Zambia but emphasized that they did the essentials. Looking ahead, he mentioned, “There is always room to improve before our next match.”

Notably, coach Walid Regragui was absent from the team due to a ban from CAF ahead of the game.

Despite the unexpected news, Amrabat stated, “We heard the news today. It was surprising. We missed him but made do with the situation. We hope to have him for the next match.”

With their focus now on the knockout phase, where Morocco will face South Africa, Amrabat expressed readiness for the upcoming challenge.

“We want to go as far as possible in this tournament, and we will do our best to succeed,” he concluded.
