PAOK left back Baba Rahman has been left out of Ghana’s final squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 29-year-old has not made a Black Stars team since playing over an hour in Ghana’s final qualifying game for the tournament. During that game, he was booed by the crowd for his performance.
Hughton named the squad on Monday morning without Baba in the team.
This season, the former Chelsea man has featured in 15 games in all competitions and provided two assists.
There are also notable absentees like Arsenal’s Thomas Partey and Leicester City’s Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.
Ghana is set to open their group stage campaign against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, 2024 – that is in 13 days.
The Black Stars will then play against record champions Egypt in their second group match against Egypt in four days before wrapping up the group face against Mozambique on January 22.
By January 2024, it will be 42 years since Ghana last won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1982.
