The Ghana Football Association has announced that Mohammed Kudus will join the camp of the Black Stars before they depart to Ivory Coast for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Ghana FA said the West Ham United attacker is in Ghana, specifically in Accra but has not yet joined the rest of the squad in Kumasi.
“Mohammed Kudus has arrived in Accra and will join the squad before our departure for Abidjan on Wednesday, January 10, 2024,” the GFA statement said.
“The midfielder is recovering from a minor injury he picked up while playing for West Ham United against Arsenal in the Premier League on Thursday, December 28, 2023. The player is currently undergoing rehabilitation,”
The statement also added that, “the medical team of the Black Stars is monitoring his progress and is happy to have him join the squad for the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire.”
Having made a notable impact since his move to West Ham United from Ajax last summer for a fee of around 40 million euros, Kudus boasts an impressive record of 10 goals in 18 starts across all competitions.
His imminent return to the national team adds anticipation to Ghana’s preparations for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
