Mauritania recorded a first-ever win at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament on Tuesday night when the team defeated Algeria.
The win is set to send Mauritania to the knockout stage of the 2023 edition of the AFCON currently ongoing in Ivory Coast.
The game between Mauritania and Algeria today was played at Stade de la Paix.
In a game serving as their final Group D game at the 2023 AFCON, both national teams needed a win to advance to the next tournament round.
