Alexander Djiku has been named Man of the Match following Ghana’s opening Group B game against Cape Verde in the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday night.
The defender was the brightest spot on the pitch for the Black Stars despite falling to a 2-1 defeat.
He scored and made a number of goal saving clearances in what was arguably his best display for the senior national team.
The Sharks went into half time with a 1-0 lead thanks to well taken finish by Jamiro Monteiro.
But Djiku restored parity with a brilliant header in the 56th minute.
Garry Rodrigues scored a late winner to ensure Cape Verde came away with all three points.
Ghana will need to bounce back when they face Egypt in their second game of the group on Thursday.
