2023 AFCON: Black Stars complete first training session in Kumasi

Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, commenced their preparations for the highly anticipated 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with an energetic inaugural training session at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Kumasi.

The team arrived in Oseikrom earlier today for training camp ahead of the continental showpiece.

The team has established its base in an undisclosed hotel, fostering concentration and camaraderie as they delve into an intensive pre-season period, focusing on tactics and unity building. The training sessions aim to fine-tune the squad ahead of the AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast.

A pre-tournament friendly against Namibia at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday, January 8, 2024, is on the agenda, providing a crucial opportunity for the squad to refine their strategies. The friendly fixture is scheduled to kick off at 8:00 pm, offering fans a glimpse of the team’s preparedness.

Ghana, drawn in Group B, will contend with Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique in the upcoming AFCON campaign, with expectations running high for a successful tournament.
