Accra Hearts of Oak attacker Daniel Afriyie Barnieh is “hoping and praying” to deliver for Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The youngster was included in the 26-man squad and will compete for places in the Black Stars starting line-up and substitute bench.
Barnieh was the leading top-scorer for the Black Galaxies with three goals as they secured qualification to the CHAN tournament to be staged in Algeria next year.
He was also instrumental as the Black Meteors eliminated Mozambique in the qualifiers to progress to the final round where they face Dr Congo.
“Getting a call up into the national team, Black Stars it’s a dream come true. I was excited when the Coach mentioned my name,” The youngster said.
“It’s a big platform and every players’ dream is to play to be at the World Cup. It’s a honor to be in the national team and l hope and pray to do my best.”
Black Stars open camp in Abu Dhabi, where they will play their final pre-tournament friendly against Switzerland on Thursday, November 17.
Ghana face Portugal in their World Cup opener on November 24. They are joined in Group H by South Korea and Uruguay.
