Ghana FA President, Kurt Okraku has put to bed discussions on the numbers that will form the Black Stars’ final squad for the 2022 Fifa World Cup later this month.

Earlier in June, the Bureau of the Fifa Council approved the increase in the size of final squad lists for the Qatar 2022 World Cup to at least 23 and a maximum of 26 players.

A couple of weeks ago, rumours circled that head coach Otto Addo preferred sticking with the old order of nominating 23 players for his final list while his employers were encouraging him to take full advantage of the opportunity at stake.

2022 Fifa World Cup: Ghana permitted to name 26-man squad

Speaking at the announcement and signing of a partnership for the Black Stars with MTN on Thursday, the leader of Ghana football let slip the size of the squad decided on while labelling them as ‘Warriors.’

‘’What I can say for a fact is that Ghana will be represented by twenty-six (26) warriors in Qatar.

He continued: “Warriors who will go out on the pitch to play for our red, yellow and green colours; 26 warriors who are ready to also write their names in the history books; 26 warriors who are ready to do more than their predecessors have done and they are encouraged by this singular feat and support from MTN.

“We will go to Qatar and the team will play with passion, the team will play for the shirt and the team will make our dear nation great and strong.

The Black Stars will open camp for the World Cup on November 10 and play Switzerland in a final preparatory game 7 days later.

When the Mundial kicks off, Ghana will be facing Portugal on November 24 for their first match before games against South Korea and Uruguay on November 28 and December 2 respectively with hopes of advancing from Group H.
