Former Black Stars midfielder, Razak Pimpong believes the team have a chance heading to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Ghana have been housed in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay having secured a qualification at the expense of Nigeria in March.
With less than two months to the start of the Mundial in the Gulf country, the quality of the team has been questioned.
However, Pimpong believes the team have a chance to make it to the next round of the competition.
“I think we have a chance. I don’t know what the final squad is going to look like but looking at how the players are doing around the world, I think we have a good chance to qualify. Anything can happen,” he 3Sports.
Pimpong played for Ghana at the 2006 World Cup. He recounts his World Cup memories fondly.
“It was something special. I was born in Jamestown and you don’t get many opportunities around there. Standing in the stadium and playing in the World Cup was something that I will never forget,” he said.
Ghana will face Switzerland in their final friendly match in November.
Ghana will open their campaign against Portugal on November 24 at Stadium 974 in Doha.
Four days later, the Black Stars return to action with a clash with South Korea at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan.
Ghana will wrap up their group stage adventure with their much-anticipated encounter with Uruguay at Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah.
The 2022 global showpiece has been scheduled to kick off from November 20 to December 18.
