2022 World Cup: Asamoah Gyan among notable absentees in Ghana squad

Legendary Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan was among the notable absentees from Otto Addo’s provisional 55-man squad released on Friday ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar

The former Sunderland star recently expressed his desire to make one final hurrah with the Black Stars at global showpiece which is set to kick off on November 20 in Qatar.

However, the 36 year old’s wishes has not been granted by the technical team.

Gyan’s fitness has been a major talking point, he has been without a club since leaving Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities.

He is Ghana’s all-time leading goal scorer with 51 goals in 109 caps.

The former Black Stars captain has played in the country’s previous World Cup appearances in 2006, 2010 and 2014.
