American referee Ismail Elfath will take charge of Ghana’s 2022 World Cup Group H opener against Portugal.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 4pm at the Ras Abu Aboud Stadium on Thursday.
He will be assisted by compatriots Kyle Atkins and Corey Parker as assistant 1 and 2 respectively.
Stéphanie Frappart from France will serve as the fourth official.
Elfath made his MLS refeering debut in 2011 and since then has become one of the country’s most respected officials, picking up the MLS Referee of the Year award twice in the past three years.
He has officiated at several international tournaments, including the semi-final of the 2019 Club World Cup.
