2022 FIFA World Cup: ‘Ghana can repeat 2006 and 2010 performances in Qatar – Fred Pappoe

The Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, Fred Pappoe is optimistic Ghana can repeat the historic performances at the 2006 and 2010 editions of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Black Stars gave a good account of themselves in their maiden appearance in Germany after advancing to the round of 16 before going a step further to the quarter-fnals in South Africa.

The 2014 edition in Brazil saw Ghana exit the group stage but former Black Stars management committee member, Pappoe, believes the senior national team will be up to the task at the global showpiece in Qatar.

“Ghana can perform well at the World Cup. It is all about preparations and so far with the friendlies Ghana have played, the coach must be in a position to do a proper evaluation,” Fred Pappoe told Kumasi based Akoma FM.

“Looking at the previous groups that we progress with 2006, 2010, surely we can repeat the same performance this time by having the right atmosphere and Support from all Ghanaians. I believe the Black Stars will progress to the round of 16 in the World Cup.” Fred Pappoe concluded.

The Black Stars of Ghana will lock horns with Switzerland in the last pre-World Cup friendly on November 17 before the tournament begins three days later.

Ghana is in group H alongside Portugal South Korea Republic and Uruguay.
