2021/22 Ghana Premier League: Week 30 Match Preview – Elmina Sharks vs. AshantiGold –

Elmina Sharks FC can only be safe from relegation if they win all of their remaining matches in the Ghana Premier League and that starts on this Sunday at home.

The “Botwekumba” are still languishing at the bottom of the league standings with 22 points from 29 matches, 11 points away from the safety places.

They will be welcoming embattled AshantiGold SC to the Nduom Sports Complex in a matchday 30 encounter.

Sharks wouldn’t want to go down easily and are also aiming to end the season with pride, they will try as much as possible to see off AshantiGold.

Having picked a point against Aduana Stars in the midweek in Dormaa Ahenkro and that gives Sharks some motivation going into Sunday’s fixture.

They have not won a single match in their last five premiership outings – drawing four out of them and losing once.

AshantiGold received the worst news in the club’s history after the Ghana FA decided to demote them to the third-tier at the end of the season.

The decision came after the Ghana FA Disciplinary Committee found the club guilty of match manipulation of their last game in the 2020-21 season.

The decision has seen the club’s President and CEO being banned for 18 years together along with some players who are facing not less than 24 months bans.

Notwithstanding this, the Miners would want to the finish the 2021-22 season at a respectable position on the standings.

They make the trip from Obuasi to Elmina with little or no motivation but hope to nick a good scoreline against Sharks on Sunday.

The Gold and Black outfit are travelling to a venue they have never won before after three attempts. It’s been two losses and a draw against Sharks in Elmina.
