black stars6The Ghana FA has officially told supersport.com that it is close to sealing a friendly date for the Black Stars on the first weekend of June.

Supersport.com initially picked information from a Ghana FA meeting where neighbouring Togo and an unnamed country were being considered for a warm-up game for coach Avram side in their preparations to host Mauritius in the Afcon 2017 qualifiers on June 14.

Sources had claimed the Hawks had gotten the nod to face the Black Stars but after further checks, supersport.com has uncovered Botswana to be the unnamed country.

A strong case has been made for Ghana to play the Zebra’s who could display traits of the playing style of Mauritius. Both countries are in Southern Africa.

Ibrahim Sannie Daara, the director of communications at the Ghana FA has confirmed there will be a meeting in the early hours of Thursday to decide on having either Togo or Botswana face the Black Stars.

”It is true we have been in discussions with the two countries,” he told supersport.com

”Nothing had been concluded but hopefully, we would have a meeting this morning and settle on one of them. When that is done, an official announcement will follow it.”

The Black Stars will begin camping for their opening game of the 2017 Afcon qualifiers on June 1.
