2014 World Cup: Ex-Ghana captain Appiah fires Cristiano Ronaldo warning at Black Stars

Former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has warned the Black Stars they should be wary of Portugal star player Cristiano Ronaldo at the 2014 World Cup as he could “single-handedly” change the cause of a game.

The Black Stars have been drawn in the Group of Death where they will play Germany, Portugal and the USA at the tournament in Brazil in June.

Much of the talk has been that the role Ronaldo, the reigning world best player, will play when the Black Stars face Portugal in the Group G match.

Ronaldo has been in outstanding form for Real Madrid this season and barring any injuries he is expected to replicate his form at the World Cup in June.

Appiah, who led Ghana to their two previous appearances at the World Cup in 2006 and 2010, says the Black Stars

“There is a guy [Ronaldo] who has overshadowed all the players but they have a good team and nobody is talking about the other players,” Appiah told Goal.

“He is making the difference anyway and I think you watched the game against Sweden and you saw what he did so that tells it all.”

Ghana will open their World Cup campaign against the United States before playing Germany and Portugal.
