Eighteen members of Ghana’s senior women’s national team took part in their first training session in Ismailia on Monday evening as preparations intensified for Thursday’s 2026 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against Egypt.
The session, led by Head Coach Kim Lars Björkegren and his technical staff, focused on light recovery work, ball control, and tactical drills to help the players adjust to the conditions in Ismailia.
Coach Björkegren expressed satisfaction with the squad’s commitment and work rate, emphasizing that the players are fully focused on executing their game plan for the crucial encounter.
The rest of the players are expected to join the team soon to complete the squad before their final training session ahead of the match at the Ismailia–Suez Canal Stadium on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
The Black Queens are aiming to secure qualification for the 2026 WAFCON as part of their journey toward a return to the global stage at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
