Hearts of Oak boss Mas-Ud Didi Dramani says Karim Zito’s resignation at Asante Kotoko did not catch him off guard.
Zito stepped down on Monday, a day after Kotoko were knocked out of the MTN FA Cup at the Round of 16 stage by Aduana FC.
The Porcupine Warriors have struggled for rhythm lately, recording just one victory in six matches and slipping to fifth on 35 points, a point behind Hearts.
Dramani, who previously worked with Zito during their time together at Kotoko, suggested such decisions are part of the coaching landscape.
“It’s normal. This is not the first time he has walked off from the coaching industry, and this is not going to be the last time. It’s always like that, and it’s very unfortunate when people don’t understand how the rudiments of the game go,” he told Joy Sports.
The Hearts coach stressed that technical handlers must accept scrutiny even when results do not reflect effort.
“We are very much responsible for the way our teams play, for the way our teams perform, and the way they behave. But the outcome is sometimes very difficult to control because you don’t control the decisions the players make.”
Kotoko’s recent dip in form has intensified pressure around the club, especially with the title race tightening.
Sunday’s Ghana Premier League Matchweek 22 showdown in Kumasi now carries added tension, with both rivals desperate for maximum points.
