Zito sees FA Cup as turning point for Kotoko amid winless league run

Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito believes the MTN FA Cup offers his side the perfect chance to reset their season after a difficult run in the Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors have gone four league matches without a win, picking up just two points in that spell. They’ve scored three goals and conceded five, slipping to fifth place on the table and sitting five points behind leaders Medeama SC.

Zito admits the pressure is mounting but is confident the FA Cup clash against Future Stars FC can spark a turnaround.

“With the FA Cup, you only have one chance, unlike the league which is a marathon. This is a big opportunity for us to make amendments and prove that it’s just a moment and not that we can’t play football,” he told Kotoko TV.

He added that his team must fight hard to progress:

“We start by fighting very hard to eliminate Future Stars. I know it will be difficult, but it’s not above Asante Kotoko.”

The Round of 64 clash will be played on Wednesday, December 10, at Okese Park, with kick-off set for 3:00 PM.
