Abdul Karim Zito has remained calm and resolute ahead of Asante Kotoko’s MTN FA Cup Round of 64 clash with Future Stars FC, despite a growing injury list that has disrupted his defensive options.
Kotoko head into Wednesday’s tie under pressure following a difficult league run that has yielded just two points from their last four matches, scoring three goals and conceding five. The slump has left the Porcupine Warriors fifth on the table, five points behind leaders Medeama SC.
Speaking ahead of the game, Zito admitted the situation is challenging but insisted his side will not hide behind excuses.
“Yes, he will play. He is okay, but the unfortunate side is that Samba is going off. You will see that the position we still have a problem over there. But we will manage ourselves because Ansu is injured, Ablorh is injured, Samba is out. Imagine the number of people injured in those positions, but we will go. This is not an excuse we will adjust and play,” he said.
With several defenders sidelined, Zito is banking on adaptability and character as Kotoko look to use the FA Cup as a turning point.
The match takes place on Wednesday, December 10, at Okese Park, with kickoff set for 3:00 PM.
