Head of Player Relations at the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG), Yusif Chibsah, has expressed concern over the timing of Albert Amoah’s transfer to Libyan side Al Ahli Benghazi, coming just days after Asante Kotoko’s 5–1 defeat to Wydad Athletic Club in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Speaking to Sporty FM, the former Black Stars midfielder said many Ghanaian players tend to move to North African clubs prematurely, which often hampers their development.
“Most players who move to North Africa do so at the wrong time, and that is why they struggle,” Chibsah said. “I wish Albert Amoah well, but it will be difficult.”
Amoah joined Kotoko from Great Olympics last season and quickly established himself as a key player, scoring 16 goals in 30 appearances in all competitions. He also impressed in continental action, netting twice in four CAF Confederation Cup matches before Kotoko’s early exit.
Chibsah’s remarks highlight growing concern about the trend of talented Ghanaian players leaving the local league at crucial stages of their development.
