Youngster Kamal Sowah is only getting started at Club Brugge – Former coach

A former coach of Ghana international Kamal Sowah, Peter Mills has backed the player to become a key man for Club Brugge this season.

This week, the talented youngster has received a lot of praise after scoring with a fine effort to help Club Brugge to thrash FC Porto 4-0 in the Uefa Champions League.

Speaking to Het Nieuwsblad on the top performance of Kamal Sowah, coach Peter Mills says more is yet to come from the winger now that he has the trust of his manager at Club Brugge.

“Kamal’s greatest quality is his mentality. He’s a shy guy, but if people doubt him, he’ll do anything to prove them wrong. That’s why he worked really hard while on vacation in Ghana last summer. At 6 p.m. morning, he was already on the training ground with his friends, keeping track of all his efforts on his Apple Watch,” Coach Peter Mills said.

The former coach of Kamal Sowah added, “Listen, when he moved to Club Brugge at the end of August last year, he was mostly torn by the fact that he hadn’t done the preparation with his new colors. And during the winter break, when a new coach arrived, he couldn’t join the camp because of the coronavirus.

“I know everyone considered it a flop, but he turned it around. He just started. Kamal needs a coach who believes in him and makes him play the right way – with the necessary freedom. Marc Brys did it at OHL and Carl Hoefkens does the same now. And you see: then you get a lot back.”

In recent matches, Kamal Sowah has been selected to start several matches by Club Brugge manager Carl Hoefkens.
