Young Lions FC have been crowned champions of the 2025/26 Northern Regional Football Association (NRFA) Colts Championship after finishing at the top of the final standings.
The Sagnarigu-based club collected seven points to claim the regional title, finishing ahead of Pong Tamale Gbewaa FC, Kumbungu City Babies and Tamale Vision Babies in the four-team competition.
Young Lions FC’s consistent and disciplined displays throughout the championship secured them first place and established the club as the Northern Region’s leading juvenile side for the 2025/26 season.
Their success also underlines the club’s increasing focus on youth development and grassroots football. The team maintained its composure across the competition to complete an impressive campaign and secure the championship trophy.
Pong Tamale Gbewaa FC finished runners-up following a spirited challenge, while Kumbungu City Babies took third place. Tamale Vision Babies ended the tournament in fourth position after showing determination and promising talent during the championship.
As winners, Young Lions FC were presented with the championship trophy, gold medals and a cash prize. The other highest-placed clubs also received cash rewards in recognition of their performances in the competition.
Individual honours were also presented after the tournament. Young Lions FC’s Abdallah Jafar was named Best Player after a standout campaign that played an important part in his side’s title-winning effort.
The Top Scorer award was shared by Emmanuel Kobby of Young Lions FC and Issahaku Umar of Kumbungu City Babies. The pair finished as joint leading marksmen in the championship.
Kumbungu City Babies goalkeeper Iddrisu Halifa received the Best Goalkeeper award after producing an outstanding series of performances between the posts.
The successful completion of the 2025/26 NRFA Colts Championship highlighted the Northern Regional Football Association’s continued commitment to developing young footballers. The competition provided emerging players with a platform to test themselves in a competitive setting and showcase their ability.
With Young Lions FC finishing top of the standings, the Sagnarigu club emerged as the leading team from a tournament that also recognised the performances of Pong Tamale Gbewaa FC, Kumbungu City Babies and Tamale Vision Babies.
