World Cup snub Joseph Paintsil grabs 6th assist as KRC Genk stun Anderlecht

Ghana winger, Joseph Paintsil has grabbed his sixth assist of the season as KRC Genk recorded a 2-0 victory over Anderlecht on Sunday in the Belgian Pro League.

Genk broke the deadlock through Nigerian forward Paul Onuachu before Painstil set up Mexican defender Gerardo Arteaga to score the second.

The league leaders are yet to taste defeat in the 2022/23 Belgian League after 17 games played.

Painstil has been on an impressive run for The Smurfs but has been overlooked by the technical handlers of the Black Stars despite contributing to 12 goals, having scored six and provided six assists in 14 games.

However, Otto Addo, who is the head coach of the Ghana Black Stars team was reported to have said the swift winger can’t be part of his team because he has not seen enough of him ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Otto Addo will name his final 26-man squad tomorrow for the World Cup in Qatar but uncertain if Painstil could ‘miraculously’ be part.
