FC Winterthur have strengthened their squad with the arrival of Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Essiam on loan from FC Basel.
The 22-year-old will remain with Winterthur through the 2026/27 season, offering the club continuity in midfield.
Essiam is already familiar with the Swiss game after relocating from Ghana in 2022 to join Basel.
During his time there, he featured in top-flight and cup competitions and gained further experience through temporary stints with Stade-Lausanne-Ouchy and FC Aarau.
A spell on the sidelines due to injury interrupted his momentum, prompting a move to Belgium with Royal Francs Borains to rebuild sharpness.
He later returned to Basel, where he is tied to a contract running until 2028.
The former Ghana U-23 international is regarded as a hardworking and adaptable midfielder capable of playing multiple central roles.
He was also a member of Ghana’s victorious squad at the 2021 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The upcoming season is expected to be a defining period in his European journey.
