Chairman of the Ghana FA Cup Committee, Wilson Arthur, has expressed his willingness to continue in the role, provided he is granted the autonomy to operate without interference.
Arthur, who also owns Division One League side Skyy FC, has led the FA Cup Committee since November 2019, taking over from current GFA President Kurt Okraku. His tenure has seen steady progress, despite an early setback due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted the 2019/20 season.
Since then, the FA Cup has been successfully staged across three uninterrupted editions, culminating in the recently concluded 2024/25 campaign.
Speaking to Sporty FM, Arthur emphasized that his continued leadership of the competition will hinge on whether he’s allowed the independence to manage the project effectively.
“It’s not entirely up to me whether I continue,” he said. “But I’m only willing to stay on if I’m given the freedom to drive the process and maintain control over what we’re building.”
Under his watch, the competition has gained renewed attention, with increased participation from lower-tier clubs and growing commercial interest.
This year’s final saw Asante Kotoko clinch the FA Cup title with a 2-1 win over Division Two side Golden Kick FC, sealing their place in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.
Arthur’s future remains uncertain, but his remarks suggest that his continued involvement could depend as much on internal politics as personal ambition.
