Revealed: Why Jurgen Klopp was impressed with Mohamed Salah during Liverpool contract saga

An insight into Mohamed Salah’s drawn-out contract saga has been provided on Monday.

After what felt like an age, Salah finally put pen to paper on a new Liverpool deal this past week and is believed to be earning over £350,000-a-week now.

However, The Athletic have reported that Salah can actually earn up to £400,000-a-week if he meets various performance-related targets, something the Egyptian was keen to push for.

The Athletic also detail the fact that, in reality, despite intense speculation, the former Chelsea forward never wanted to leave Liverpool. It is added that his preference was always to stay put. He has established a close friendship with Ian Rush during his time at the club and the Anfield legend had urged him to sign and preserve his legacy.

Furthermore, Salah was aware the adoration he receives from the club’s fans wouldn’t have been replicated elsewhere.

He also appreciated how working with Klopp has taken his game to the next level and that he’s surrounded by world-class talent in a team capable of challenging for glory on all fronts, as they in 2021/22 – missing out on a historic quadruple right at the death.

Elsewhere, it was reported that Jurgen Klopp and his staff were impressed by Salah’s application and attitude throughout the contract saga, particularly how he has taken younger players, such as Harvey Elliott, under his wing over the past year and continually helped to set the standard in training every day.
