Who is the favourite to sign Jesse Lingard?

Manchester United confirmed earlier this week that Jesse Lingard will be leaving the club at the end of June when his contract expires.

Lingard is one of several big names departing Old Trafford this summer.

The midfielder endured something of a mixed stint with the Manchester powerhouse. He showed much promise as a youngster and developed a knack for scoring in cup finals.

However, after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer arrived at the club, Lingard saw his game time dramatically reduced.

He was therefore shipped out on loan to West Ham for the second half of 2020/21, with whom he scored nine and assisted five in 16 outings – playing a key role in the Hammers securing a Europa League spot.

Lingard then returned to Manchester United last summer, and was expected to either be sold or finally be given another chance in the first team.

However, neither of those things transpired, with the 29-year-old instead being afforded just 355 minutes of league action across the entire season.

Who will Jesse Lingard join?

Now, though, with Lingard a free agent, he is expected to generate quite a lot of interest, especially after showcasing the fact that he is still a very capable Premier League player whilst at West Ham.

And, with Betfair, West Ham are the current favourites to land Lingard, at odds of 5/4.

After West Ham, newly minted Newcastle are second favorites with odds of 9/4.

And the Magpies are followed by Sevilla (13/2), AC Milan (17/2), Inter Milan (9/1), Borussia Dortmund (9/1), and Tottenham (10/1).
