Result
West Ham and Manchester City played out a Premier League clash a short time ago.
Said game was of huge importance to both sides. Manchester City were looking to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to six points, whilst West Ham knew a win on Sunday would have seen them climb above Manchester United into the Europa League places via goal difference.
And, when all was said and done at the London Stadium, the points were shared on the day, a result which suited neither side.
Manchester City dominated the opening 20 minutes but it was West Ham who took the lead via Jarrod Bowen 23 minutes in.

City then once again controlled the tie after that goal but were unable to break the Hammers down before they broke and scored a second via Bowen:

Manchester City started the second half much brighter, pulling one goal back 48 minutes in when Jack Grealish volleyed in a shot from the edge of the box.
Vladimir Coufal then scored an own goal after 68 minutes to bring Man City back on level terms.
This was followed by Craig Dawson giving away a penalty 82 minutes into the match, but Fabianski saved it to ensure West Ham walked away with a point.

West Ham player ratings
Lukasz Fabianski (6.5) – Couldn’t do much about the Grealish goal nor the own goal. Great save for the Mahrez penalty.
Vladimir Coufal (3) – Didn’t have the best of games trying to deal with Jack Grealish, also scored an own goal.
Craig Dawson (4.5) – Made a number of good tackles and blocks but then gave away a penalty 82 minutes in.
Kurt Zouma (5) – Lucky not to give away a penalty early in the tie but other than that he did not do much wrong.
Aaron Creswell (6) – Kept Mahrez quiet for large periods of the game.
Tomas Soucek (5.5) – Good flick on in the build-up to the Hammers’ second. Could have done better when challenging Rodri in the build-up to Grealish’s goal.
Declan Rice (6) – Helped keep De Bruyne quiet early in the game.
Jarrod Bowen (8) – Showed great control and composure to score first on the day and produced another great finish for his second.
Manuel Lanzini (3.5) – Had a hard time creating much for the Hammers.
Pablo Fornals (6.5) – Excellent ball to play in Bowen for the first goal. Did little else of note.
Michail Antonio (6) – Not his most impressive showing but did cause Fernandinho some issues and assisted Bowen for his second.

Mark Noble (4) – Came on for his final appearance at the London Stadium, but didn’t have much impact on the game.

Ederson (5) – Could have done better when coming for the opening goal.
Joao Cancelo (5) – Was not his most creative on the day.
Fernandinho (3) – Looked uncomfortable in the centre-back role, especially when having to deal with Antonio. Also had a hard time keeping a straight defensive line, which allowed Bowen in behind several times.
Aymeric Laporte (5) – Played Bowen onside for the opening goal but won the free-kick which lead to City’s second.
Oleksandr Zinchenko (3.5) – Should have been closer to Bowen for the opener. He then played Bowen onside for his second goal.
Rodri (6) – Did well to win a header vs Soucek to set up Grealish.
Bernardo Silva (4) – A very ineffective showing, failing to produce those driving runs that so often prove key to City attacks.
Kevin De Bruyne (5) – A far cry from his starring display vs Wolves earlier in the week.
Riyad Mahrez (5) – Made a couple of chances for his teammates but was not at his best early on. Good ball for the West Ham own goal. Missed a late penalty.
Gabriel Jesus (6) – Had City’s only decent shot on goal in the first half but put it wide. Won Man City a penalty, which was missed.
Jack Grealish (6) – Should have done better with a Mahrez cross 19 minutes in. Great strike for City’s opener.
