West Ham release three players as they plot summer revamp

West Ham United have announced that a trio of senior players will be departing the club this summer when their contracts run out.

Ryan Fredericks, Andiry Yarmolenko and goalkeeper David Martin have all been confirmed to be leaving on June 30th, with none having done enough to warrant new deals in the eyes of David Moyes.

Yarmolenko scored a crucial goal in West Ham’s Europa League run, coming off the bench to net the winner against Sevilla in the round of 16 second leg at the London Stadium.

The 32-year-old joined from Borussia Dortmund in 2018, but has only managed to rack up 86 appearances for the Hammers, grabbing 13 goals and 7 assists.

Fredericks joined in the same summer, and has managed 77 appearances since his arrival, contributing 3 goals and 6 assists. The Englishman, however, only made 7 Premier League appearances for David Moyes, and failed to impress during his outings.

Meanwhile, David Martin’s chances of appearances were reduced drastically by the arrival of Alphonse Areola, meaning that the veteran shot-stopper did not manage a single appearance this season.

Trio join Mr West Ham in departing

Of course, the trio departing has been overshadowed by the retirement of Mark Noble, after years of service for the Irons.

The veteran racked up 550 appearances for his side across the top two divisions of English football, and while his influence on the pitch diminished, his influence in the dressing room remained strong, with several players thanking him for helping them settle in in east London.
