Ghana’s Football Association Communicatio Director Henry Asante Twum says the FA is shifting focus to the 2026 World Cup after missing out on the AFCON 2025.

The GFA Communications Director expressed disappointment over Ghana’s failure to qualify for the continental tournament, acknowledging it as a “blemish” in the country’s football history.

However, Twum emphasized that lessons have been learned, and the team is now geared towards making a strong impression at the World Cup.

“We (the GFA) were not happy watching the AFCON without Ghana, a four-time champion that has been dominant in recent years despite the setbacks of 2022 and 2025. Lessons have been learned, and our focus is now on the World Cup,” he told Akoma FM.

Ghana has been drawn in Group L, facing England, Croatia, and Panama.

The GFA is working to strengthen the Black Stars’ technical team, with head coach Otto Addo requesting additional staff.

The Black Stars are preparing for their fifth World Cup appearance, aiming to progress beyond the group stage and match their quarter-final feat in 2010.
