Head coach of Hohoe United, Abdul Rahim Bashiru, has laid bare his side’s survival plan for the second round of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League, insisting the club must hit a minimum points target to avoid relegation.
After a goalless Volta derby draw against Heart of Lions, Bashiru admitted Hohoe’s first-round return of 18 points from 17 matches leaves little room for error heading into the business end of the season.
“Our situation is not good,” Bashiru conceded.
“Out of 17 matches, we have accumulated 18 points. We have a target to stay in the league, so we have to try as much as possible to get at least 25 points in the second round.“That’s exactly what we must do if we really want to stay in the league. If we get more, that will be a bonus, but we are going to fight very well.”
The draw with Heart of Lions has dropped Hohoe United to 15th on the league table, increasing pressure ahead of their next fixture.
With a tough test against Hearts of Oak looming, Bashiru’s men face a defining stretch of the season, knowing that any further slip-ups could drag them deeper into the relegation zone.
