We might invite Black Stars players for the U-23 AFCON – Fred Acheampong

Black Meteors Management Chief, Frederick Acheampong has revealed that some Black Stars players will be named in the Meteors’ squad for the upcoming U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ghana are vying for a ticket to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris by finishing in the top three spots of the AFCON.

Acheampong spoke on the importance of parading the best set of players to represent Ghana.

“The coaches have been monitoring the players, especially those with the Black Stars, eligible to play for Meteors,” he told Citi Sports.

“As many as those who are eligible and are good, position-wise, the coach will invite them for the national team.

“Also, we know our aim and we know our targets, we are looking for quality.

“So those who are available would be called to help us qualify,” he added.

Meanwhile coach Ibrahim Tanko has announced a 22-man squad to begin camping.

Ghana is hoping to pick up a slot in the next Olympic Games which will be staged in Paris.

The Black Meteors are in Group A along with Congo, Morocco and Gabon.

With that in mind, Ghana plays their first game against Congo on June 25, 2023.
