Borussia Dortmund sporting director, Sebastian Kehl has opened up on why the club did not refuse Ghanaian tactician Otto Addo the chance to take charge of the Black Stars as head coach.

According to him, although coach Otto Addo has a longstanding relationship with the German Club, the Black Stars have been very special to him.

Sebastian Kehl insists that with this in mind, Dortmund is happy to support the Ghanaian tactician in his next move to coach his national team.

“I know that for Otto, despite his long-standing connection to BVB, the national team was always something very special. We have already supported him in the past to be able to work for his country and we definitely don’t want to deny him the chance to become head coach,” Sebastian Kehl said as quoted on the website of Borussia Dortmund.

In a statement to confirm Otto Addo’s appointment as the new Black Stars head coach, Dortmund said the deal will start at the end of the current season.

It said Coach Otto Addo will, however, be released to the Ghana FA to take charge of upcoming Black Stars games against Nigeria and Uganda.
