WAFU B to conduct new draw, Women’s Champions League now kicks off on Sunday

Following  the withdrawal of Niger’s AS Garde Nationale from the third edition of the West Africa Zone B (WAFU B) CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers, the Football governing body has resolved to conduct a new draw for the competition.

The new draw is scheduled to be conducted on Friday, August 18 at the Samuel Agbemudia Stadium at 10:00 GMT to reconstruct the Groupings for the tournament.

The CAF Champions League qualifiers originally scheduled to commence on 18 August will now kickoff from 20th – 31st August 2023.

WAFU Zone B consists of seven (7) Clubs with four (4) in Group A and three (3) in Group B respectively in the original schedule but the withdrawal of AS Garde Nationale leaves Group B with just two (2) clubs.

Per the new format, Nigeria’s Delta Queens will be seeded in Group A as host Country and Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa remains in Group B as the strongest performing country per the current rankings. The four other teams will then be balloted and added.

All participating clubs have safely arrived in Edo State, Benin City and ready to engage in a spirited competition, with the ultimate victor earning the exclusive CAF Women’s Champions League ticket designated for the WAFU Zone B.
