Black Princesses head coach Charles Sampson believes the WAFU B U20 Girls Cup has provided invaluable experience for his young squad as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana played two matches at the competition, securing two wins and suffering one defeat.
Sampson explained that the competition has highlighted key areas for improvement, especially in attack.
“This has been a really good tournament for us. Our girls needed games like this to develop, and we are very grateful for that,” Sampson said after Ghana’s 2–0 win over Benin in their third match.
“We’re very much concentrating on our own philosophy and principles of play, and in this tournament, our aim is to see how it evolves.
“It’s been going really well; we’re struggling a bit with the last third… those are the things we’re very confident we now recognize, and we should find ways to see how we can be better.”
Sampson added that the lessons from the regional tournament will shape Ghana’s preparations for their next World Cup qualifying tie against South Africa.
