Vinicius Junior faces Real Madrid decision as Arsenal prepare to act

Real Madrid have made an improved contract offer to Vinicius Junior as they try to keep the Brazil forward at the Santiago Bernabeu and head off growing interest from Arsenal.

Talks between the Spanish club and Vinicius have been ongoing for about 18 months but had reached an impasse in recent weeks. According to a report published by BBC, Real Madrid have now attempted to break the deadlock with a revised proposal for the 26-year-old.

Vinicius is understood to view the new financial terms as “satisfactory”, giving Real Madrid president Florentino Perez renewed hope that an agreement can be reached. The club are waiting for the player’s final decision after stepping up their efforts to secure his long-term future.

The forward has entered the final 12 months of his current contract, which runs until 2027. That uncertainty has encouraged Arsenal to monitor the situation closely, with the Premier League club identifying Vinicius as a “priority” target for the left-wing position.

Arsenal are prepared to “accelerate their interest” immediately if Vinicius rejects Real Madrid’s improved offer, according to the same source. The London club’s interest places further pressure on Real Madrid to resolve the negotiations, while leaving the Brazil international with a choice between continuing his career in Madrid or considering a move to the Premier League.

Real Madrid’s coaching staff are also hoping Vinicius will remain at the club. The team is now led by returning manager Jose Mourinho, who is said to be keen for the player to stay with what Vinicius previously described as his “dream club”.

Vinicius returned to training on Monday after completing his involvement with Brazil at the World Cup. He underwent medical tests before taking part in his first session as preparations for the new season began.

The central disagreement in the negotiations has been financial. Vinicius wants “significant financial recognition” that reflects his status as Real Madrid’s leading star. The club, however, have traditionally sought to maintain a balanced wage structure under Perez, a policy that has complicated discussions over the past year and a half.

Vinicius has made 375 appearances for Real Madrid and scored 128 goals since joining the club. He renewed his contract three years ago and has repeatedly expressed a desire to remain in Madrid “for many years”.

The Brazil forward arrived at Real Madrid from Flamengo and has since become one of the most prominent figures in the squad. The club now hope the improved terms will be enough to persuade him to continue his development at the Santiago Bernabeu.

If he accepts the proposal, Vinicius will remain part of Mourinho’s plans and continue his career with Real Madrid. Should he turn it down, Arsenal are ready to intensify their pursuit and offer him the possibility of a new challenge in the Premier League.
