Valencia release Carlos Soler statement amid reports of Barcelona deal

Valencia have categorically rejected suggestions that they have reached an agreement with Barcelona to transfer Carlos Soler this summer.

According to a source in Spain on Monday, the two clubs had struck a deal for the midfielder’s move, with the Catalan giants set to pay €20 million (£16.8 million) for his services during the forthcoming window.

Valencia, though, quickly issued a statement denying that they had discussed a summer move for the Spain international with their La Liga opponents.

Los Che also tweeted the words “Don’t lie!” above a photo of the midfielder.

Meanwhile, the six-time Spanish champions stated that they are in “open negotiations” with Soler over a contract extension at Mestalla, with his current term expires in June 2023.

“In response to a story published this Monday in Spanish newspaper Diario AS, Valencia deny the existence of any agreement – or any ongoing negotiation – with Barcelona for the transfer of Carlos Soler,” read a statement from Valencia’s official website.

“The club are currently in an open negotiation process with the player and his agents to extend his contract with Valencia.”

Soler had a productive 2021-22 year for Los Che, scoring 12 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions, while also adding five assists.

Meanwhile, the midfielder has 35 goals and 31 assists in 219 appearances for Los Che since making his first-team debut in 2016.
